At a young age, Ryan Reilly was enraptured by the depth, immersiveness & potential found only through the medium of Video Games.
Inspired by Western & Eastern artists ability to captivate their audience through the use of illustrations, animation, musical direction, game design & narrative storytelling.
Educational background in Graphic Design, Media, Arts & Technologies, as well as a BA(Hons) in Communications in Creative Multimedia.
Worked with Little Road Productions making documentaries for RTE, moved on to work in Games Development within Dublin City, then an Artist Print Studio whilst continuing independent projects.
Always an advocate for the potential of the gaming format, often fighting against societal norms & pressures of following the most traveled path. Always with a need to progress and explore new methods of storytelling.
Artist Statement
I wish to entertain & inspire others by expanding the potential that fiction has over reality. Focus on journeys, characters feeling alive and connecting with audiences through the use of game engines, artwork and film to tell character stories & narratives.
My projects involve the use of Digital Mixed Media, ranging from Game Engines to Adobe Creative Suite. For larger video projects, I storyboard digitally, shoot footage using characters in game engines, write a script, record voice over & edit using Davinci Resolve or Unity Timeline/Cinemachine. Thumbnails and Artwork as part of the video or as an individual piece are made in Krita or Procreate.
My works are often symbolic with abstract backgrounds, but use elements of realism in character building for depth.
Using the alias “No Purpose Indie”, Ryan hopes to entertain and inspire others through the use of Game Engines, Film, Animation & Design to encourage the escapism of others and inspire further ideas.

– Designed a Live-Action Branching Narrative for ‘SignIn’ for Fis. Highlighting how emergency services should appropriately approach and deal with deaf or hard-of-hearing people.

Black Shamrock, Virtuos:
– “Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory” designed for PS4/XBOX/PC, eventually releasing as an Epic Games Store exclusive in 2019. Featured at E3 & in IGN Video Articles. Worked as QA Tester & Junior Narrative Assistant during crucial period in its development.
Independent Artist:
– Marketing for ‘NoPurposeIndie’ on Social Media Platforms, such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter. Designed WordPress Portfolio Website from scratch.
– Created ‘Project Intero’ – a narrative driven game developed in Unity for PC.
